Local High School Student wins Lamb Festival Logo Design Contest
Lamb Festival Logo Design Contest
Dixon High School student Angel Mata walked away from his graduation $225 richer thanks to his prize-winning logo for the The Lamb Festival in Dixon, California. Lovingly called Lambtown USA, Dixon is a rural community that is celebrating 25 years of the event that has been bringing together agricultural heritage, food, crafting and family fun.
The lamb industry is strong in Dixon, with many ranchers in the area and local processor Superior Farms. To honor the event's silver anniversary, the board of directors wanted to engage the community, and the high school contest was one of the ways to go about it.
"Angel did a great job on this project," said Angela Gentry from the Lamb Festival Board of Directors and Marketing Director of Superior Farms. "The message from this visually is clearly about agriculture. It's classy and very clean. We're going to start incorporating it to help promote the event right away."
The logo will be used online, in print and on merchandise. Entrants should take care to ensure that their Entries are not in any way similar to existing logos or other copyrighted images.
Mata's graphic design teacher said, "I am pleased that the committee found something they liked. It is great to see students recognized as pre-professionals and receive a monetary award too. I plan to attend the Lamb Festival and see what it's all about. It looks to be a great event."
Santos Fernandez took second place, winning $75.
