Superior
Farms Hosts Chef's Association of the Pacific Coast
Davis,
California - Superior Farms celebrates 40 years of
commitment to the lamb industry.
Superior Farms was founded in 1963 in Ellensburg,
Washington. The company was started by Phil Cohn and was
privately owned until 1991. In 1991 Superior Farms became an
ESOP company and is owned by its five hundred employees.
As
the West Coast demand for quality lamb grew so did Superior
Farms. In 1981 another facility was opened in Dixon,
California to provide additional slaughter and processing
capabilities. Superior
Colorado was opened in 1995 and merged with Mountain Meadows
Lamb in 2000 to better serve our eastern customer base.
Boston Lamb and Veal was acquired in 1997 to extend East
Coast service. In 1998 Superior Farms joint ventured with a
lamb facility in Australia for an imported lamb supply.
Over
the years Superior Farms established itself as an industry
leader. Superior pioneered branded lamb programs; vacuum
packaging and case ready lamb. Superior continues the
evolutionary process that began decades ago by expanding our
packaging technology to include further processed lamb
products and veal.
Superior
Farms maintains a spirit of ongoing growth aimed at better
serving the marketplace through expansion and continual
updating of our current facilities. All facilities are USDA
and HACCP approved. New product development and food safety
remain a priority today as it has in the past.
Superior
Farms is the largest processor of lamb in the United States.
The variety of lamb products, marketing programs, processing
locations, and national customer base contribute to 40 years
of growth, success and on-going commitment to the lamb
industry.
Superior
will celebrate by recognizing producers, customers and
employees that made this accomplishment possible.
